Sann-Sunny! :D

I had tried lot of veg. South Indian delicacies But didn't get to try the non-veg. side of South India. So,decided to visit this place 'Hotel Sunny' after numerous recommendations from well-informed Malyalis. They apparently do know their stuff for I absolutely loved the place!
The walls were freshly painted, the benches and chairs adequately comfortable (there is an A/c Family section as well) and the place is pretty clean. The service is quick and efficient, dishes were served within 20 minutes of ordering.
They give you their special papad just to munch before the food is served and those papads are just so yummy! We had a fish molly (because Molly is my Nickname :p) which was superb. The fish was fresh (wish there were more than 3 pieces though), the gravy was delicately spiced and combined with the flaky parottas, the result was heavenly.
Also tried the chicken biryani which was alright and some chinese prawn crispy which was a bit of a letdown in the sense that you should come here for the mallu food alone. Also plan to try the iddiappams and the appams some time in the near future. The restaurant is not that big but the food, ambiance and the service made me very very happy...!!! :)

Pav Bhaji bole toh...Sardar!!! :D

Warning !!! You have to go here only and only for the Pav Bhaji... -_-
- No Ambience
- No nothing
- Nothing but the best Pav bhaji. Sardar Pav Bhaji.
Yes,this one's easily the best pav bhaji in Mumbai, and highly recommended to the folks who love Amul butter and dont count calories while eating(like me :D) ...Yummy paav bhaji, but a complete no frills roadside kinda place, with only pav bhaji and juice on the menu...yes you need to be ready to share tables with unknown people like any simple roadside eatery, but at the end of the day it's worth it for the taste of their out of this world pav bhaji :)
What makes it so special ??
It is made on a sigdi and not a gas stove, this ensures that the masala can be fried in pure butter for a longer period of time without the butter buring out because a gas stove is much hotter than a sigdi.
This pav Bhaji is said to be the first Pav Bhaji in the world,so you can understand the speciality of the place..So,all you true Pav Bhaji lovers out there....This place is worth a visit! :)

Tasty land of China....!

After my earlier post about a Chinese restaurant, again I'm going to write about one of the well-known places for Chinese in the country...'Mainland China'!!!
Do you dream to have an exotic, mouth tickling,delicious- something that would remind you of divine ambrosial? Get ready for a taste of heaven as Mainland China comes for your rescue. The largest chain of speciality fine-dining chinese restaurants in the country which has made a mark in every connoisseaur diary.Recently it has won the prestigious "Golden Spoon Award-2009".
That day,I was in a veggie mood so started with some Dim Sum (vegetable dumplings) and it easily was the best item ordered. In appetizers their flagship Crackling spinach is to die for, also must try Crispy corn, Tangy potatoes, and Corn cubes.I find their main course just fine, nothing extraordinary. You can try their chilli garlic noodles with broccoli and corn in chillibean sauce or four treasure vegetable in the main course.. .
Another must try, the caramelised walnut dessert - I even carried a box back home... ;)
All in all, Mainland China does a fantastic job of all things - ambiance, service, decor, etc. When it comes to the actual cuisine, it's above average...

Zaffran....I love you! ;)

For a city that never sleeps, partying is what Mumbai thrives on. But when the party's over and the hunger sets in, Zaffran is one of the few places you can head to...expecting a satisfying smile on your face by the end of it. Open till the wee hours of the morning, Zaffran is a popular spot for many youngsters.
They have an exquisite assortment of mughlai dishes, which is generously praised by all its customers- excellent flavours, piping hot fresh food and generous portions. However, keeping aside the finger- licking Butter Chicken and Naan, I also happened to order a fresh lime water and we all know what a rarity it is to be served with a well- balanced one. But zaffran was definitely not a disappointment. Their desserts taste exceptional and are equally appealing to look at. In my experience, Zaffran also happens to be one of the very few restaurants that serves Hagen Das Ice- cream, and the strawberry cheesecake flavour is ridiculously good.
What also adds to its charm is the fact that Zaffran has incorporated a separate hookah section, and i must say, for a restaurant that isn't solely devoted to being a hookah joint, Zaffran is quite impressive. Low- lying cusions make up for the seating in this section, which accompanied by translucent drapes give it a very Moroccan feel. They have a long list of all possible flavours for all you hookah lovers, so much so that they have a separate menu for the same. In this sense zaffran has managed to cater to it's customers' likings in quite an impressive fashion.

The service is friendly and quite welcoming, yet at the same time is equally prompt and crisp, which definitely is a huge tick! However, if you're planning to go to Zaffran for a good meal and an equally good conversation, you might want to think again. Owing to the loud music and the joint being packed, you can't hope to have a real conversation or a quiet dinner. Zaffran is more along the lines of a place where you can just kick back and relax, and as they say, just "chill", and in that sense the loud music and the young crowd seems to work in sync.
As far as pricing is concerned, you'd probably end up paying a little more than you'd settle for, but it'll all be worth it, guaranteed! In totality a great experience indeed, Zaffran promises to keep you wanting more!
So again,Zaffran...I love you... :D

My fav tadka.... :)

Here I am,with a new  and mouthwatering food tale of me and 'Urban Tadka'.Its a chain of restaurants widely spred in the city and I'm so loving it!!! :)
Lets talk about the food...There's this smell of fresh phulkas wafting in the house and you know what I can think of, to go with it? Urban Tadka's Murgh Kali Mirch...Yeah,I almost lost my fingers to the Murgh Kali Mirch and Laccha Parantha. The bhuna hua meat, the koliwada jhinga fry, the tandoori mushroom and babycorn, or aloo are my personal favourites. The garlic naan is well, that. The dal khichdi here is not great, but it's not worse than a Mc. Donald's burger. And save some space for dessert because the jalebis with rabdi are your tickets to Lala Land.
Urban Tadka does not tug at your pocket and certainly does not show too soon on your weighing scale....;)

China park...mmmmmm!

When Your taste buds demand awesome Chinese food and you can't afford to spend much, then China Park is the place to be!!! : )
It's a place where you can find alien names of dishes on the menu card but don't you worry, everything comes to you is gonna be yummy!!! I'm saying this because I've tried almost every dish and loved it!
Talking about the food, The sizzling kaythoung soup is a must try!!!In starters, relish over mouth watering Teriyaki chicken and Thai lemon grass chicken. Sapo chicken and Kung pao is my personal recommendation in the main course....They serve the yummiest gravies that you can just order for simple fried rice with it but still, if u have demanding taste buds just like mine, don't forget to order Malaysian rice or pot rice and if you are a noodley person, try coriander pot noodles...which's one of my favourites!!...Chinese steam breads are also different in taste ...
China Park's not a big place as it is still blooming and it may not have best of the sitting arrangements...but the food is worth a visit....many visits!!!
So, eat some real yummy Chinese at China Park and go mmmmmmm.....
